Welcome!
Welcome to the Featherdust Studios online shop. Below are some commonly asked questions about ordering. If you have a question that is not covered here, please contact me (Jennifer Miller) directly by using the 'contact' page. Thank you!

If I don't like something and want to return it, may I?
Yes-- I want you to be happy. If you are completely unhappy with an item, you may return it within 5 business days of receipt. Please see "How do I make a return?" below.
If you return an item with a value over $50.00 for any reason other than damage or being not as described, a 10% restocking fee will be issued. This is not a penalty, but rather a recouping of lost funds by the artist for time, packing materials, transaction fees, etc.
If items are returned with any damage as caused by the buyer, due to poor handling or poor packaging, the damage costs will be deducted from the total refund cost.
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: Unless otherwise discussed, I can NOT INSURE international orders. Returns are also very time-intensive and hard to process. Therefore, all international orders are considered ALL SALES FINAL and are at the buyer's risk. Please understand that I am not a large company but just an individual artist and International insurance is expensive and often impossible to claim for art-related items, and the waits between shipping international items back and forth is hard to manage for returns.

How do I make a return?
To initiate a return, you MUST contact me via email within 48 hours of receipt of your item.
Keep all packaging, and to save money, materials, and the safety of the item, please re-use them to package the item up for return.
If you cannot re-use the packaging or if it is damaged beyond safe use, please let me know.Email: [email protected]. Email with a clear description of the item and why you wish to return it, and I will email you with further instructions.
IMPORTANT: I can not be responsible for 'lost emails' at this time. Each email provider has spam filters, with some being more aggressive than others. If you are worried your email may not get to me, you can try emailing me at my backup email as well: [email protected]

Wait, the "returns" section says "no returns"!
I know, I'm sorry about this; this is something implemented by my store host that I cannot turn off. Please see the full return policy, detailed in the questions above this one.

What if my item arrives damaged?
If your item arrives damaged due to poor shipping and handling by the shipping carrier, an insurance claim through said carrier can be initiated if the item has a value of greater than $50. Please keep all packaging, and if at all possible take photos of the damage before and after opening the package. Do not throw anything away, and contact me within 48 hours so that we can begin the process.
If the item has a value of less than $50, please take photos of the item's condition along with the packaging condition, and email me.International buyers: Unless otherwise discussed, I can NOT INSURE international orders. All international orders are considered ALL SALES FINAL and are at the buyer's risk. Please understand that I am not a large company but just an individual artist and International insurance is expensive and often nearly impossible to claim for art items.

Do you accept orders placed outside of the US?
I do ship to some international locations. If you are unsure, please contact me before purchasing. I can not ship to the UK at this time.
Many of my items require special packaging (large prints, original artwork, masks, etc). Due to the variable size and weight of these items, you must contact me for a shipping quote before purchase. Please include your full address so that I may research shipping costs to your location. Unfortunately, international shipping has had large price hikes in recent years, and as such international shipping is quite expensive. Some items may cost more to ship than the item is worth, and I'm truly sorry.Important note: Insurance is NOT included on international shipments. If insurance is important to you please contact me for a shipping quote; insured international shipments must be sent via a special service and it costs a lot more.
Unless otherwise discussed, I can NOT INSURE international orders. All international orders are considered ALL SALES FINAL and are at the buyer's risk. Please understand that I am not a large company but just an individual artist and International insurance is expensive and often impossible to claim on art related items. For those that have customs / duty taxes: Please note that I am honest on customs forms and can NOT mark the item as a 'gift' for you, and will mark the item value.

How long will it take to receive my order?
I typically can ship once per week, so expect a 7-10 day shipping delay.
If you need a rush shipment, please contact me before placing an order to make arrangements.
Once shipped, most domestic (within the USA) orders take anywhere from 3 to 15 business days to arrive depending on the efficiency local postal services and your physical distance from NY state. Priority shipping within the USA takes approximately 3-4 business days once shipped. First class, when available for small items, delivery time usually takes 3-10 business days depending on your distance from NY state. International shipping delivery times are currently unknown and in my experience range from 2 weeks - 2 months.
-
Do I have to sign for my shipment?
If you are in the USA and you order more than $200 worth of items, then Signature Confirmation is mandatory with shipping. You will need to sign for your shipment either at the Post Office or when your mail-person attempts to deliver to your address. Any items returned to me because of failure to pick up will be re-shipped only at the customer's expense. If this causes you a problem please let me know before I ship your item(s)!
-
Will I get charged sales tax?
At this time only New York state residents will be charged sales tax as required by law.
-
Will you hold an item for me?
For items valued over $100, I can hold them if a down payment is placed on the item (25% minimum required). The item must be paid off in full within thirty (30) days unless agreed otherwise. Down payments are non-refundable and any item not paid for in full within the agreed amount of time (30 days unless agreed otherwise), the down payment will be forfeited by the customer and the item will again be placed up for sale. Only Paypal and credit cards are accepted for down payments.
Due to multiple problems in the past, I will no longer hold any items without some sort of down payment.
If you wish to hold an item please contact me directly.
-
Do you take payments?
For items over $200 I will accept multiple payments over a period of time (no more than 60 days) if a customer wishes. Please contact me directly to discuss a payment plan if interested. A down payment may be required to initially hold the item.
-
What if you send me the wrong item?
Thankfully this has not happened to date, but in the event that I mistakenly send you the wrong item, please contact me and I will make it right! Items valued over $50 will need to be returned to me, but I will pay for shipping and will provide a pre-paid return label. In this event I will either offer a full refund, or you desire an exchange for the correct item, I will do this when possible.

How accurate are the photos?
Colors may display differently on your screen than how they appear in person. Every screen displays colors a little differently. Especially jewelry that has iridescence or color-play in the stone (such as opal, labradorite, moonstone ammonite, etc) are nearly impossible to capture properly in a photo as the colors shift. I try my best to accurately represent my work and do not ‘enhance’ photos. All photos are taken in natural lighting only. Due to the nature of iridescent stones, they may appear different in artificial light. If you have any questions please do let me know. If you wish to see additional photos of any item I would be glad to send them to you, please email me.
Also, many of the photos are ‘larger than life’ to show detail. Depending on your screen resolution they may be much larger than the actual item. Please note dimensions carefully so that you may understand the true size of the item. -
Do you take commissions for artwork?
Sorry! At this time I do not have time to take personal commissioned work.
-
Do you take on commissions for custom jewelry work?
Unfortunately no, I can no longer create jewelry due to a hand/arm injury.
-
One of your pendants that I wanted is sold. Will you make another just like it?
My pendants are all one of a kind. That said, I am not crafting new jewelry at this time due to injury.
-
Where are you located? May I pick something up in person?
I am located in western NY state. I do not have a physical store or studio for the public to visit. For high value items such as original paintings, I have occasionally worked out a delivery or in-person pickup within a reasonable driving distance. If you think this might apply to something you are interested in, please email me. Additionally, many of my available original paintings are available in person at my representing gallery: West End Gallery in Corning, NY. https://www.westendgallery.net/
